What You Should Know About California Solar Installers

Article by Razcaz Lompe

So I’m retired now, and that i have decided you’re ready to go solar. Exactly what does one thing have to do with another, well, If only I’d something more noble to express but really I just want to save cash on my small utility bill, I wish to increase the value of my home, and that i have plenty of time on my small hands now to actually get it take action. Fortunately in everyday life I have learned how to maintain a position in which I’m able to be a picky about what I want and usually have it (usually). With regards to installing solar panels I had no idea things i was getting myself into, so I had to buckle down and do your homework and pray that would find a solar company that could meet all of my demands. I wanted the very best technology placed on the house, I needed so that it is produced by an in-depth pocketed reputable company in the U.S.A, and I wanted a long term warranty.

Originally from New York, I relocated to Tucson about 12 years back to flee the cold temperature. People complain, we get a yearly average 300 plus sunny days here, but no matter how hot it gets, I would take each and everyone of them over one bone chilling Ny day. Not to mention that instead I sold a shoebox sized condo coupled with ample money to buy my 24,000 square foot 4 bedroom home is located in a basic suburban neighborhood. There are a lot of old people much like me living around here, I meet each week with a group of ladies at the neighborhood club house and play cards. Janet, one of the gals, has solar panels on her behalf house. She said her electricity bill for the entire year was .80. I wasn’t certain basically believed her, but she sparked my interest, and so i chose to do some research.

I used Google to find information online about solar manufactures within the U.S., Kyocera, BP Solar, Evergreen Solar, Sunwize, and Solar World are the companies that claim to be U.S. companies, although not all are really American, and most of them don’t manufacture their parts within the U.S. they place them here. Evergreen was the only real actual American owned company. They manufacture all their parts and the entire panel in the U.S. – but after making .5 million in the second quarter of 2010, they are setting up shop in China in order to make more profits. (I wonder what money they need to make in order to keep creating green jobs in the U.S. and stop giving jobs to people who are instructed to work in miserable conditions for peanuts).

The last company I called was Solar World. I spoken with a really bright and pleasant man named Pete DeNapoli for more than Half an hour. Pete has worked with solar world for more than Two-and-a-half decades and that he provided the complete history of Solar panel technology, an update on the current state of the solar economy, and that he told me more details about his product than I could ever remember in a single sitting. I actually do remember Solar World continues to be making solar panel technology in the U.S. for 33 many they grow all their materials and manufacture the entire solar power right here in the U.S.. Solar World boast about their 25 year linear warranty, Pete claims is the greatest in the market because they guarantee that the actual power of a new module cannot deviate in the specified rated power by more than 3% throughout the first year; and afterward, the ability won’t decrease by more than 0.7 percent from the rated power per year. So at year 10, capacity is certain to attend least 90% from the nameplate instead of the industry standard guarantee of 80% (I took notes during our talk). Based on a completely independent test conducted by the German company Photo International Module Test, Evergreen, Kyocera, BP Solar, and Solar World were compared for quality inside a multi-year energy output test, and Solar World won. Although I was leaning towards Solar World I still had one concern, every company I researched claimed to achieve the best technology, and I knew that certain of these needed to be much better than the other.

I made a decision to go to my trusty source for all things true and factual, Wikipedia to discover for good who the best solar clients are. “The market leader in solar panel efficiency (measured by energy conversion ratio) isSunPower aSan Jose (California) based company. Sunpower’s cells have a conversion ratio of 24.2%, well over the market average of 12-18%.” The only other solar power panels which are more efficient aren’t yet manufactured for residential use.

I was curious; why didn’t the 3rd party websites I’d reviewed for information about competing solar companies mention SunPower? Naturally I’d to research further. Arrived at find out, SunPower is dominating the solar panel technology world simply because they have a great technology and their design is patented, which keeps the other companies from having the ability to compete with them. Their panels are up to 50% more efficient. It made sense the solar industry would be put off by promoting SunPower because SunPower comes with an upper hand on all the other companies up to now. SunPower an united states owned solar manufacturer having a 25 year warranty, deep pockets, and superior technology still had one down side; it’s more costly than Solar World.

Oh how I like to save $ 1! I hate to harp on my small age, but saving a dollar is one of the last joys that I have left. However, the highest technology factor would be a real feature too because my daughter will inherit home and that i want to make sure that any addition I invest in will add long-lasting value. Now’s decision time for me personally. Both Solar World and SunPower offered me almost everything which i want, so I set up a conference with their installers. I will ask them to walk me through their procedures after which I will select a company to choose, because after all the study it sometimes just comes down to looking them within the eye and going together with your gut.

Home Wind Turbines – Facts You Should Know

Home Wind Turbines – Facts You Should Know

Article by Charlie D

Home wind turbines are not really among the things that people would normally consider when buying renewable power systems for their homes. One of the reasons behind this is their lack of knowledge about these small wind systems that are ideal for home use. Since the most obvious alternative energy source is the sun, most people will surely look for solar panels to put up on their roofs. Although there is nothing wrong with using solar power, you should consider the power of the wind too. Even if you live in suburban areas, there is still a way for you to harness wind power using small wind systems.

The first thing that many people ask about home wind turbines is how they work. In essence, a turbine, which is placed on top of a tower, collects energy from the wind and turns it to usable electricity. In residences that are not located in remote areas, it is still necessary to get the services of your local utility company because the energy generated by the turbines will not be enough. It is also worth noting that the speed of the wind can greatly affect the electric output of your home wind system. If the wind speed is lower than 7 miles per hour, you should not expect any output from your turbine. However, if you are able to generate more electricity than what you need, your local energy company can purchase the excess power from you.

Another concern for homeowners is how much money is saved when they use home wind turbines. According to studies, a small wind system can actually cut your bill by as much as 50 to 90 percent. Some people even claim that after successfully installing a wind system in their homes, they only pay to dollars in monthly electricity bill for more than two-thirds of any given year.

However, you should understand that the size of your home wind turbine will greatly affect the amount of money you will save. The higher the output of the small wind turbine, the more significant the impact will be on your electric bill. It would be a good idea to use several small wind turbines in order to generate enough usable electricity. The most common turbines available in the market have 600, 800, 1,000 or 3,000 output watts.

Before you buy home wind turbines, there are some things that you need to consider. First, you have to determine local laws on installing small wind systems in your city or locality. You do not want to end up buying a wind turbine only to realize later on that you cannot use it at home. Furthermore, you also need to choose a home wind turbine that is suitable to the size of your home and the size of your property. Furthermore, you also need to look for an online store that will not only provide you with quality small wind turbines but will give you value for your money as well. What You Should Know About Solar Rebates

What You Should Know About Solar Rebates

Article by Meg Smith

In Australia the scheme of solar rebates for installing photovoltaic panels is now closed. Any homeowner who was not able to apply for the rebate before 9th June 2009 must now apply for what is known as solar credits, rather than a rebate.

These solar credits are in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) administered by the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme and effectively replace the solar rebate scheme. How this works out in practice is that the installers usually offer you a discount in return for the Solar Credits you get from the RET scheme.

So how many Solar Credit Certificates will you be eligible for? It all depends on what size your system is. The bigger the system, the more power it will generate and the more RECs you will get. Solar systems start at 1 kW and go up to 3kW with 5kW increases. For the smallest (1kW) system you will be given 103 RECs. These will be worth about ,090. For the largest (3kW) system you will be eligible for 185 RECS worth around ,550.

However, there is another variable that depends on the climate. For a climate such as Brisbane where most of the days are hot and sunny, more power will be generated, therefore more RECs will be given. In a southern climate where there are more cold and cloudy days less power will be generated by the same size system, so fewer RECs will be given.

How can you access these RECs? Usually you transfer the right to collect them to the installer of your solar panels. In return, they give you a discount to the value of your solar credits. This is the easiest way. But you can forego the discount and apply for the RECs yourself – although application is usually done through an agent. You must apply for the RECS to the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER). This must be done within 12 months of installation.

What to Know Before Purchasing Home Solar Electricity

What to Know Before Purchasing Home Solar Electricity

Article by bernardita brimbuela

Getting home solar electricity is more affordable today than 10 years ago. In fact, many state governments are currently offering tax rebates to persons that choose to convert to home solar electricity. If installing a photovoltaic system to supply your home solar electricity is too far out of your financial abilities, there are also programs available to purchase your utilities from an accredited green energy supplier. Green energy suppliers offer only utilities fueled by renewable resources, such as solar electricity, hydroelectricity and wind generated electricity. However, if you made the decision to switch to solar electricity for your home it is important to determine your electricity needs before you start shopping.

The first thing to determine is how much power you will need from your home solar electricity system. Different arrays and solar panel set-ups offer different wattage outputs. Take the time to determine your average daily electricity usage. You want to achieve a number that includes the entire year and affords for the different amount of energy used during winter and summer months (more lights, heaters, air conditioners).

When shopping for the right photovoltaic system to supply your home solar electricity definitely research the quality of the product. A product offering 13% efficiency and a lifetime warranty will be far more valuable than the panel offering 15% efficiency and a one-year warranty. Ask neighbors, friends and even strangers currently using home solar electricity, to learn more about the differences in systems. Sufficient time should also be spent interviewing installers and researching manufacturers as well.

A final decision needs to be made as to what kind of system you would like to use to supply your home solar electricity. There are generally three types of solar panel systems used to supply home solar electricity. The first type is a grid-tied system in which your solar panels are tied into your current power meter. You are using both electricity supplied by your panels and your supply is then backed by electricity from your electric company. The second available solar panel system for supplying home solar electricity is a grid-tie with battery backup. With this system you are collecting electricity from you panels, filling your batteries for emergencies and then the excess is sent back to the electric company through your meter. The final system is a stand-alone system. Very similar to the grid-tied system with battery backup except that you are completely disconnected or maybe never connected to a major utility provider for your area.

Once you educate yourself on providing your home solar electricity, you are probably ready to start shopping. Remember that converting to home solar electricity is an investment and you will reap the rewards over time. And don

Everything You Need to Know About Solar Panels

Everything You Need to Know About Solar Panels

Article by Samuel Harrison

The solar panel is the most basic element of a solar power system. It primarily functions to gather sunlight during certain periods of the day to power different devices and structures. Depending on the size, solar panels can power anything from RVs to huge plants. It is also important that you understand how the panels work and where you can apply these so that you can get the most benefits. Here are some more details and info about the material.

What are Solar Panels?

Solar energy starts with the sun. Solar panels are also known as photovoltaics and are primarily used to convert light from the sun. These are made of energy particles called photons that are changed into electricity to power various electrical loads. Light from the sun is considered as a renewable energy resource that gives clean energy. Solar panels can be used for different applications like remote power systems for cabins, remote sensing, telecommunications equipment and to produce electricity for commercial and residential panel systems.

The History

The development of the solar energy began more than a century ago. During the early days, solar power was used mainly to produce steam for drive machinery. Henri Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect that allowed the conversion of solar electric energy. Becquerel’s discovery triggered the invention of the first true solar cell by Charles Fritts in 1893, which was created by coating selenium sheets with a thin gold layer. The solar panel was then created afterwards.

Russel Ohl is an American inventor who used to work for Bell Laboratories. He patented the first silicon solar cell in the world in 1941. The first solar panel was produced by the same company in 1954 because of Ohl’s creation. The new solar panels were used first in space satellites. During the 1970s, more people saw the use of solar panels through the newly designed calculators that can run easily under light.

At present solar panels and full solar panel systems are used to power different applications and structures. Aside from calculators, solar panels are now used to give power to homes, commercial buildings and other huge structures.

Letting the Solar Panels Work

Solar panels can gather clean renewable energy in sunlight form that will be converted into electricity. The average home has adequate roof area to let solar panels gather enough sun to be converted into DC current or AC current. Solar panel arrays can be sized to meet big requirements. The AC current can power loads in the house and other commercial buildings. It is important to consider the part of the house, as well as the right angle of the sun so that the solar panels can gather the most light over more hours of the day for optimum results.

You can choose to build your own solar panels or just order a ready-made one online. There are also a number of stores that offer solar panels, depending on the use you need. You can hire some experts to help you determine the right part of the house or structure where you need it installed. You should also talk to other solar panel owners to help you maximize the benefits.

6 Things You Need to Know Before You Build and Install Domestic Solar Panels

6 Things You Need to Know Before You Build and Install Domestic Solar Panels

Article by Aiden Smith

Are you currently paying a fortune for electricity? Do you wish you could slash your electric bill every month? The rising costs of energy are causing many American families to struggle. The production of energy is also causing harm to the planet. It can cost ,000 or more to have a solar energy system professionally installed.

Fortunately, there are alternative solutions.

You can learn how to build domestic solar panels without spending much money at all. There are DIY guides available that explain everything in detail. You can use the guide to determine what tools and supplies to get at your local hardware store. Yes, it’s possible to build solar panels for your home with tools that you can obtain locally!

Before you get started on the project, here is important information you need to know about solar panels:

1. The first thing you need to do is learn about different panel sizes and determine how many you will need. What is the daily power requirement for your home? How much energy does your family use each day? Every appliance in your home uses a certain amount of watts. A solar panel gets around 5 hours of charging time on an average day, so if your home uses 3,500 watts per day, you will need either a 3,500 watt solar panel, 7 500 watt panels, or 5 700 watt panels.

2. Keep in mind that domestic solar panels won’t charge at maximum efficiency on cloudy days. They can still charge in low-light conditions, but not as they should. Thus, if you live in a changeable climate, you might want to install an extra panel or two to ensure that your home always receives enough energy.

3. In order to build solar generators, you need to know how they work. They absorb sunlight and convert it into a Direct Current (DC) charge. The DC charge is stored in the battery, from where it will be used to power appliances. For Alternating Current (AC) energy to be created, an inverter is required. You will learn how to build the entire system with the right DIY plans.

4. It’s important that you choose the right battery so that you can have energy at night. The energy is stored in the DC battery for later use since the panels can’t work at night. With the right battery, you can trust that energy will be stored efficiently.

5. There are different types of solar panels. The Crystalline panels are more durable and last up to ten years. Thin film panels lack durability, but are very flexible. They work better in low-light conditions, so you might want to have at least one thin film panel during winter months. If you choose the right DIY guide, you’ll learn how to make the best of your tools so that you can build sturdy, reliable domestic solar panels.

6. Factors that affect the amount of energy produced in the panels include weather conditions, shade, and the angle at which the system is installed. Thus, you need to remove any obstacles that might cast shade. If you can’t remove them, place the solar panels above them. Some homeowners buy or build mounts for their domestic solar panels. You’ll learn about these in your building guide.

Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars on a professional kit and installation, you can learn how to make your own domestic solar panels as long as you have the right guide, parts, and a willingness to learn. You won’t have to rely on your local power company anymore, and you can live off the grid!

These guidelines are really just the beginning. You can get the COMPLETE, step by step solar blueprint for saving THOUSANDS of dollars (yep, thousands.) every single year on your energy bills with your own homemade solar panel system.

I’ve made it incredible easy to learn how to build your own solar panels, step-by-step in a FREE video, appropriately called “Solar Savings“. What You Must Know Regarding Solar Thermal Technology

What You Must Know Regarding Solar Thermal Technology

Article by Adam

How much do you know about solar thermal energy? Were you aware of the fact that a lot more people are starting to use solar energy just because they can save a lot of money using it and it will benefit everything around them including the environment? If you want to help make a difference then don’t be scared to start now, there is nothing to worry about. If you don’t know that much about solar energy then just keep reading because I wanted to write this so that you are as enthusiastic about solar energy as I am.

The first thing you need to understand is that solar thermal energy is a technology that turns solar energy into heat. This is a type of technology that many people have but they just don’t know the actual name of it. Most people refer to this as solar heat which is not the right term for the technology. Remember this because solar thermal energy and solar heat are very different.

Things To Understand Regarding Solar Thermal Energy

3 Types Of Collectors – Something that is very important to know is that there are 3 types of collectors; high, medium, and low. The low collectors are normally flat plates that are primarily used to heat a swimming pool. Medium solar thermal collectors are also flat and they are used mostly to heat water and air for a home. The third solar collector is a bit different, it uses mirrors or lenses to collect sunlight which then it uses as general electric power.

Designs To Track Sun – Have you ever wondered what happens being that the sun moves all the time? There are a lot of features that some solar collectors have and one of them is a tracker which is mostly on the high solar collectors and this simply moves so that the mirrors or lenses are always facing the sun. This isn’t needed for low and medium collectors because they don’t need as much sun in order for them to keep working.

There is a lot of things that solar thermal energy can do for you and that is why I highly recommend using it. If you thought that a small solar panel on the top of your roof was enough then think again, you can actually power your entire house with a good sized system. My advice to you if you are thinking about helping to change the fate of the world is to do your part and get a solar thermal system installed in your home.

About the Author

Another great piece of technology that goes along with Solar thermal energy is something called Trigeneration, this is used as a byproduct for cooling and the nice thing about it is that you will never have a pool that is too hot or too cold for you.

Solar Electric System – Get To Know What Makes Up This particular Solar System

Solar Electric System – Get To Know What Makes Up This particular Solar System

Article by Micky V. Howard

Panels have a worth of proficiency connected to the power output per surface area. Panel installation and also mounting is one of the crucial stage of the project. You need to discover ways to firmly install the panels into the rooftop without the help of an expert and therefore this specific value added little bit of guide is important. Panels that are set up in exceptionally dusty situations will need to be scrutinized more often. Whether it helps, create a timetable or mark your own calendar to monitor the device’s upkeep.

Solar electric systems are sized in line with the requested volume (KWh) of utility primarily based electricity a client desires to offset. The energy made by these systems might be monitored by a visible interface placed from the home or straight through the Net. Solar electric method design and setup is not just that which you do, it’s almost all we do ! Each and every staff member at Solar Kits has already established years of coaching and experience in the field connected with solar power type. Solar electric systems have been in process for many years. The very first commercial application of solar electric power is at the aerospace company.

The solar electric system employs laminate floors solar modules that will enable installation perhaps on metal rooftops. This system put in by Sullivan Solar technology has the power to withstand diverse ecological conditions. This system uses solar modules in order to convert sunlight straight into electricity. The photo voltaic electric system may enable the Hamilton Marketplace Complex to create enough clean energy to spare air nearly 31 % of harmful greenhouse unwanted gas annually, equivalent to the environment filtering of 6.2 acres regarding trees. Over the up coming 30 years, the environment pollution saved will probably be comparable to operating over 2 millions of miles.

This system includes a “give and take connection” with the electric powered grid which is regularly being monitored with the net-meter. The solar electrical system comprises ten solar panels, every single with 208 watts capacity. The solar panel systems are flush mounted and tilted from an angle linked to 35 degrees. Your solar electric method will spare the surroundings from thousands of a lot of emissions such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide, that happen to be major contributors in order to smog, acid rainfall and global warming.

Scalping strategies work by being incorporated into a buildings electro-mechanical system, and this next will provide energy directly into your distribution system. Scalping strategies are made up involving panels that are fitted onto the roof from the building and are governed by switches that will be inside the making. The Solar power Electric system is completely automated in its method.

The system will certainly wake up alone when the sunlight is out, as well as goes to sleep while the sun sets. Solar power electric system manufacturing depends on the accessible sunlight. When sunshine is abundant, generation can exceed the need.

The answer is something we have heard a lot about recently- the use of a home solar energy system. You’ve possibly also heard they are expensive. Well the initial set up is not cheap but in the long run it really is worth every dime you pay for it.

Now you may be thinking what does that have to do with me because my utility bills have got me stretched to the limit and there is no way I would be able to afford installing a system in my home. Well the answer comes in two parts.

- You don’t have to put a full system in to get started with solar. There are a number of solar things you can get started with like solar garden lights and outdoor security lights that don’t cost much that you can get started with.

- There are a lot of government incentives that help the home owner set up a solar system and get started. You really need to take advantage of these and get started. You can also set up a system yourself as there are a lot of online helps that will save you big bucks.

There are a number of different types of solar systems so let’s talk about them and see what makes sense to you.

One of the most popular systems is a solar electric system. This is where the sun’s energy is used to provide electricity to your home. You probably have seen solar panels installed on a roof or on the ground beside a home. Solar panels known also as photovoltaic, transforms the sun’s energy to electricity. This is the same type of system used around the home to power solar lights, solar fountains and solar pumps. The main difference is the scale of the panels and the overall system.

Another popular home solar energy system is thermal. When you use this technology it uses the heat coming from the sun to heat spaces. The solar water heating system utilizes solar collectors to heat water that is circulated through tubes. Once heated the water flows into a large tank and is readily available for use. In using this system the water heated by the sun is then used to radiate heat into a room or is used for domestic hot water.

You may be trying to decide to convert your home into an environmentally-friendly solar powered house. The question you’re asking yourself though is which is the best home solar energy system for you? Well, the answer will depend on where you live, the size of your house, the goals you wish to achieve with your solar system.

If you are looking to generate electricity from your home’s rooftop to power your home and even perhaps contribute power back to the Hydro grid then a photovoltaic arrays is probably what you are looking for.

For less challenging applications like heating water for your swimming pool or even for your home you can utilize a simpler to install and less costly solar thermal system. Professional installers can get your home set up with a basic hot water system for around ,000 in most cases. The savings on your electric bill will be small but over the long haul you will definitely save.

Residential Solar energy systems are certainly worth looking at, especially if you are tired of paying high amounts for your monthly energy bill. So if you are looking for a way to save money, you should probably look into solar power for your home at the same time you will enjoy the reality that you are lowering your family’s carbon footprint significantly.
